Corona virus Update Worldwide as of Week 53

We have been fighting with Covid-19 pandemic for almost one year, but there are no signs of slowing down. Here is the update as of week 53.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been spreading throughout the world since early 2020. To this day, the world has been fighting with this pandemic for 53 weeks. However, the coronavirus has not shown any signs of slowing down yet. It appears that we are still having a long fight with this virus.

To this day, as many as 87,582,167 cases of coronavirus infection have been reported. About 1,889,004 people were dead due to this infectious disease, and 63,090,654 people were recovered. As of this week, there are currently 22,602,509 active cases of currently infected patients, and about 108,796 of them are in serious or critical condition.

Because of this pandemic, many activities are halted. Travels between countries and even between cities are prohibited except for essential travels only. Many schools and offices are closed, and they conduct their school or work activities at home. People are encouraged to stay at home and not go out except when necessary to prevent further infection spread.

Many countries also prohibit public gathering and advise people to maintain physical distancing. Alcohol-based sanitizers are also recommended in all settings so that people can keep cleaning and washing their hands to prevent virus spread.

The virus can enter the body through eyes, nose, and mouth. Therefore, many cities in the world mandated people always to wear masks in public. People are advised to perform good hygiene and always wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

While case notification rates generally remain high, vaccines' production for this virus makes people a little relief. Vaccination has been scheduled in some countries worldwide, while others still have to wait for the production and legalization process. Meanwhile, U.S. Pharmacies have started to vaccinate high-risk groups.

Despite the vaccine production, we still need to stay cautious. Stay safe by staying at home and wearing a mask when you are absolutely required to go out
