Latest Update on Corona Virus Vaccine: 5 Popular Brands You Need to Know

Since Coronavirus is categorized as a global pandemic, many pharmaceuticals around the world race to develop an effective vaccine that can put this misery to end. Here are some of the most popular vaccine brands that receive a growing recognition.

1. AstraZeneca

Initially approved by the United Kingdom, AstraZeneca is publicly released on December 30, 2020. It also becomes the third corona vaccine brand that received permission from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This vaccine uses a specific immunization technology that is claimed to be more durable and cost-effective.

2. Moderna

Moderna (mRNA-1273) is manufactured by ModenaTX Inc, a pharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The clinical trials of this vaccine reported that it is more than 90% effective for preventing the spread of Coronavirus.

3. Pfizer

After several phases of intensive trials, Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is claimed to be 95% effective, particularly higher than other popular brands at this time. Pfizer also has milder side effects; all of them are highly tolerated and show no serious concerns on safety.

4. Sinopharm

Produced by China National Pharmaceutical Group, Sinopharm vaccine is another alternative that still seeking for more advanced development. The vaccine is redeveloped due to a claim that Sinopharm is considered “unsafe” with about 70 side effects. Its efficacy rate is also less than 80%.

5. Sinovac

Besides Sinopharm, another private pharma company in China also produces an alternative vaccine called Sinovac. This vaccine works by leading the immune system to create their own antibodies with the aim of fighting against the Coronavirus. The antibodies produced by Sinovac are also attached to the proteins of the virus to increase their efficacy rates.
